Exclusive Culinary Weekend: A Feast and Foray Where Land Meets Sea | 4-Star Accommodation at Patty’s Barn

Gather with us for a foodie experience like no other on the beautiful Lancashire coastline, where the land meets the sea. This exclusive weekend is a celebration of local food, provenance, and the joy of eating and drinking in great company.


What to Expect

  • World-Class Chefs: Enjoy a one-of-a-kind weekend menu crafted by Masterchefs Oli Martin and Matt Willdigg. With live-fire cooking in our Out Barn and immersive dining directly on the salt marshes, this is a feast for the senses.

  • Culinary Workshops: Dive into hands-on sessions like sourdough breadmaking and fermentation, learning the art of preserving nature’s flavours.

  • Meet the Producers: Hear the stories behind the ingredients as local legends like Steven Holmes from Farm Yard Brew Co, our neighbours Stuart and Caroline from Cockerham Salt Marsh Lamb, Paul and Hayley from Wyreside Mushrooms and Ian Steel from Atkinsons coffee join us at the table.

  • Food and Drink Experiences: Savour foraged teas, tonics, homemade kombuchas, artisan teas, and Atkinson’s coffee (and espresso martinis). Pair these with a curated selection of local beers, wines, and botanical infusions.

  • Relaxation and Adventure: Unwind in the hot tub, enjoy a wild swim, or take in the stunning surroundings overlooking the Morecambe Bay Estuary (a designated SSSI).


This weekend promises alfresco dining with the sweet scent of woodsmoke, conversations around the fire, and the magic of feasting alongside like-minded food lovers.


The Plan

Friday

  • Arrivals from 2 PM

  • You’ll receive a warm northern welcome, with tea and freshly baked cakes followed by a sunset walk along the sea wall, we’ll forage some plants and herbs for teas and tonic, ending with a tasting by the fire.

  • A refined ‘Taste of Lancashire’ dish paired with craft beers from Farm Yard Brew Co, as their founder Stevie shares the story behind the brewery., including a tasting of our collaboration beer 'On Your Doorstep' a samphire gose which pairs delightfully with food.

  • For those who prefer wine over ales, we’ve selected some of the finest English wines to pair beautifully with our fire-cooked feasts.


Saturday

  • Morning Stroll: Collect fresh farm eggs on a short walk to our neighbours' farm where they have many rare breed birds and animals and head back for a luxurious breakfast.

  • Workshop: Sourdough bread making and fermentation, learn the ancient art of these techniques so you can master this in your home cooking. 

  • Lunch: A selection of Port of Lancaster Smokehouse charcuterie board, with chefs pickles and ferments.

  • Afternoon: Time to rest and digest

  • Guided nature walk with to Wyreside Mushrooms for a producer tour and talk with owners Paul and Hayley. You'll learn how about the growing process, culinary mushrooms like lions maine, black pearl, oysters and more as well as tap into the Pauls knowledge about the medicinal benefits of mushrooms. We'll keave here with a basket full of mushrooms for diner as well as your own growing block to take home to grow your own.

  • We'll meet Ian Steel from the iconic Atkinsons Coffee Roasters who will share a traditional coffee roasting of beans using traditional Ethiopian fire techniques ending with espresso martinis before dinner. 

  • Evening Feast: A fire-cooked tasting menu served along our banquet dining table prepared by Oli and Matt, you can also expect Paul and Hayley from Wyreside Mushrooms and Ian from Atkinsons to share the feast with us.


Sunday

  • Morning Coastal Walk: Explore our wild coast as we stroll to Plover Scar Lighthouse and Cockersands Abbey with Michelle. Pause for a fireside cup of tea and Morecambe Bay Chowder on the beach and passing by our neighbours and the farmers behind Cockerham Salt Marsh Lamb.

  • Lunch on the Salt Marsh: Dine alfresco directly on the salt marshes enjoying slow cooked salt marsh lamb joined by the farmers and their sheepdog Tess.

  • Afternoon: Depart feeling inspired, nourished, and connected.


The Chefs

Oli Martin and Matt Willdigg bring their award-winning expertise to this weekend. With backgrounds in some of the world’s top kitchens, including Sydney’s Gastro Park and Hipping Hall, they’ve achieved accolades like four AA Rosettes, Lancashire Life’s Restaurant of the Year, and a top 35 spot in Harden’s UK Best Restaurants. Together, they founded Foray Catering, delivering unforgettable bespoke dining experiences rooted in local ingredients and low food miles.




Your Host

Michelle of Land + Sea Experiences, Hosting is my happy place and my passion and I’m driven to reconnect people with nature, food, and one another. At our family farm, I create immersive dining experiences that inspire and nourish. I’ve hosted and facilitated events all over the world, bringing people together, designing immersive experiences and creating beautiful spaces where people can connect with themselves, each other and nature. More recently I'm studying a Masters in Conservation and Biodiversity to bring more nature into my work here.


This is a truly one-of-a-kind food and drink experience, thoughtfully curated to highlight the best of Lancashire’s land, sea, and fire.

Patty’s Barn is set on the edge of the salt marsh in rural Lancashire, the land around us is shaped by the tides and the skies filled with huge sunsets and coastal birds. On site you'll find our 4 star holiday cottages and cosy cabins. Whether you’re here to slow down, gather around the fire, explore the wild coastline, or simply breathe a little deeper, our space invites you to find meaning in the simple things.
